Stellenbosch University Centre for Undergraduate Bursaries and Loans
The Centre for Undergraduate Bursaries and Loans (CUBL) forms part of the Finance division at Stellenbosch University (SU), and our team of professional financial aid practitioners support prospective and current undergraduate students who wish to apply for financial aid by granting and administering bursaries in a sustainable manner.
Each student of SU is personally responsible for making financial provision for the settlement of their Student Fees account. There are different ways to ensure your University education fits your household budget: you can fund your degree programme through a bursary, academic merit or sport award, and/or a bank loan. Our website can assist you in exploring these options.
Do you need Financial Assistance*?
e-applications for 2025 open
FOR CURRENT STUDENTS: 1 July – 30 September 2024
FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS: 1 – 31 October 2024 only
All current and prospective students can apply. Please review the Application Process tab for detailed information on eligibility criteria, the required support documents, and instructions on how to apply. You will need your SU student number to gain access to the online form.
*SU funding is mostly partial cost awards, and includes SU external donor bursaries and family bursaries; SU has limited funds available: an application for funding is not a guarantee that a bursary or funding will be granted
Stellenbosch University believes that every student who has the potential to succeed academically should as far as practicable be given the appropriate opportunities. The Centre for Undergraduate Bursaries and Loans (CUBL) thus strives to provide as much support as possible to students who gain admission to the University but lack the financial means required to study.
Please note, however, that SU has limited funds available; applying for financial assistance is not a guarantee that a student will receive bursary funding. Students are encouraged to not only look to the University for financial support, but to also explore other external (private; state) funding options.
