The Centre for Undergraduate Bursaries and Loans (CUBL) encourages all eligible students to apply for financial support for the 2026 academic year
Stellenbosch, 1 July 2025 – Stellenbosch University (SU) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2026 SU Funding Opportunities for Undergraduate Students.
Application periods
- Current undergraduate students: 1 July – 30 September 2025
- Prospective undergraduate students: 1 October – 30 November 2025
The Centre for Undergraduate Bursaries and Loans (CUBL) encourages all eligible students to apply for financial support for the 2026 academic year. Funding is awarded based on financial need and academic merit.
Applicants are advised to first review the Application Process tab on the SU Bursaries and Loans website, where detailed guidelines and the list of required support documents are available.
- Current students can access the online application form using their 8-digit SU student number.
- Prospective students must use their South African ID number or passport number.
The online application is designed to be straightforward and accessible. Once the required documents are prepared for upload, completing the application should take approximately 15 minutes.
According to Mrs. Bianca Andrews, Head: Institutional and Corporate Funds at CUBL, over 5 100 applications were received for the 2025 academic year. “Our streamlined process eliminated barriers and ensured that every student had an equal chance to apply,” she said.
CUBL also manages and administers bursaries for external donors according to specific criteria, including financial need, academic performance, and leadership. Students who wish to be considered for these opportunities must complete and upload an additional application form when prompted as part of their SU funding application. In addition, there are several SU Family Bursaries available to students who meet the eligibility requirements and can provide proof of descendancy.
“We look forward to receiving funding applications for 2026 and remain committed to supporting our students throughout their academic journey,” Andrews added.
Please note: SU funding is limited, and submitting an application does not guarantee that funding will be granted.
